What The Heck 2020

Well, hello! Welcome to this blog post. (Finally!) I am so happy if you are stopping by to read today. I have definitely abandoned this little blog here of mine this year. It’s not because I wanted to drop the ball, but man this year has been tough!

I mean, can we talk about it?? I had a wonderful start to the year with my babies and husbands birthdays in January and February. Things were really looking up.

Come March, I was getting ready to celebrate my birthday that month with a few different events. First of all, I had a fabulous boss babe meetup with my friend Samantha and her business group of ladies. Luckily I still managed to make it to this on the second weekend of March. It was so much fun! I’ll have to talk all about these meetups on another post.

Back to March, later that month before my birthday, my husband and I had some plans to spend my birthday weekend in San Diego, just the two of us. Then finally the first week of April I had purchased tickets to the 2020 Scrapbook Expo in Ontario, California and I was gonna spend a night in a hotel room all to myself and was gonna join the all-day crop. It was gonna be soooo much fun!

Well…… I got a big WOMP! WOMP!

So did everyone else and their Spring 2020 plans. We all know why. The COVID-19 Pandemic.

Ugh. Is all I gotta say!

However, despite everything that has transpired in the last 7 months of this year, I have come to a realization that this has all be a blessing in disguise. I know, I know so much is at stake. There is so much uncertainty.

But if you think about it, so much good has come out of this. At least in my life it has.

What about yours?

For one, our world has woken up and risen together to try to make a change for ourselves, our neighbors and our own families. I’d like to think that everyone is more gentle hearted now. We are also making daily selfless choices to care for others by wearing a mask. It’s so simple. But what a choice of love!

Also, the dynamics at home has changed for so many. For the first 3 months of the pandemic, my whole household was home. This was frustrating at times, but it also allowed me to enjoy the time together we had, while we had it. We have spent some amazing bonding times these last few months. So many memories have been made. To keep up with my memory keeping adventures you can catch me on Instagram on my Crafty account and my Personal account.

Fortunately, my husband is back at work and now I’m home with my children daily. Is it a challenge? Yes, of course! We still find new challenges every day.

But I am blessed. So, so blessed. To be healthy. To have a home. A steady income. And my loving family.

Covid might have taken a large part of our freedom. But it has also opened my eyes to what I am blessed with. Covid has not taken away the love or hope in my heart. It hasn’t taken my craft, or my routine, or my sunshine! lol

Part of that, too, is this blog here. I haven’t felt like writing in a long, long time. But the words are calling me to come out and be shared with you, here.

I have a few plans for this blog. I know I’ve come on here a few time in the past and had big plans, but again, I drop the ball.

This time it’s different. This time I really want to take the time to write my heart out. To share ALL the real Neffyness. I want to include more motherhood into this blog, I want to continue to share my love for crafts and scrapbooking, and my life.

I want to use this as my platform to share love, light, and positivity to the world.

I have some exciting this coming including…… (drumrollll) a SHOP!!! Yes, you’re the first to read it here!

So, get out of my way you 2020, you!

I’m here.

I hope, also, that you all stay healthy for yourselves and others. May we continue to spread love around the world, because that is what we all need right now.

Now it’s your turn, I want to hear from you…. what blessings have come out of these past 6 months for you? What are some things you are now used to, that felt almost impossible in March?

Leave me a comment below and let’s chat!

A 2019 Yearbook

Hello scrappy friends, and hello 2020!

I thought I would take some time to come on here and wish you all a happy New Hear and happy new decade!

I wanted to take a stroll down 2019 memory lane and share some of the layouts I made, share the teams I worked with, and what my favorite parts of the year were. I hope you enjoy this fabulous look back at my 2019 crafty creations as I am truly proud of all my work and I want to share!

P.S. I will also be linking below TWO videos where I share a flip thru of all these projects! So read thru to the end to find the videos.

I think it’s amazing to be alive today in celebration of the second decade of this Millenium!

Here are my babies and I celebrating 2020!

Here’s a rundown of what my crafty 2019 looked like….

  • I was very honored to have started the year off with Citrus Twist Kits for the Fall/Winter 2018 Team. My term ended in February 2019 and boy do I miss those beautiful kits.
  • I also stayed on Emma’s Paperie through the year. I am delighted to work for this awesome online scrapbooking shop. This was my 3rd year already!
  • In the Spring, Summer and Fall I played with the gorgeous dies and stamps from Technique Tuesday. These challenged me in the best way… I created many layouts using ONLY stamps!
  • In the Fall I also made it onto the Ink Road Stamps Design Team. I couldn’t stay during the whole term, due to personal issues, but I can’t say enough good things about Lara and her amazingly SASSY stamps! I also pushed myself to make projects using only stamps and it was sooo fun.
  • Finally, in September I guest designed for The Wild Hare Kits. I received the most beautiful kit curated just for me! It was amazing to play with items I was surprised to open and see. For the projects I was assigned as a Guest Designer, I made sure I went all out.
  • On a personal note, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at the beginning of 2019 via VBAC. She is beautiful, kind, and so silly. I slowed my crafting down a bit after she was born, but I couldn’t stay away for long.
  • I rearranged my crafty space to perfection during the last few weeks of my pregnancy, if I do say so myself lol the nesting was strong and I LOVED my crafty space…

So, I want to share with you all the layouts that I created in 2019.

I hope you enjoy!!

That’s probably not all of them!

But just to make sure, I am sharing the FLIP THRU video of all the 2019 12×12 Layouts I made. Just click the image below!

And here, I am sharing all the 2019 8 1/2 x 11 Layouts I made. Click the image below to watch!

Well, friends, thanks for coming here and reading thru this lengthy post. I am excited to continue on this crafty journey this year.

I’ve got big things planned and I can’t wait to share them with you all!

Cheers to a wonderful year! Xoxo

Technique Tuesday Grandma Blessing Layout

Happy Sunday beautiful crafty friends! I am happy to be back today to share with you another project I made using the gorgeous stamps from Technique Tuesday. This month I was sent two beautiful stamp and die sets and I’m here today to share the first one.

I was sent this beautiful set called Grandmother Blessings along with matching dies.

My own momma became the star of this page. You can see above how gorgeous the stamp is with different quotes and phrases and beautiful icons fit for a grandmother.

I used the stamps to create the entirety of my page. Including the embellishments!

To color in my floral pieces I used a mix of markers and colored pencils. I tried to keep this very fresh and light so I didn’t add too many splatters or extra things to my background.

I used this sweet quote as the title of my page. It’s such a sweet sentiment that makes me think how amazing Grammy’s really are!

I used the hear stamp to create some 3D hearts. To make them I simply stamped the heart image five times, folded the heart in the center, and pasted them together using wet glue.

Once placed on my page, they created a super fun 3D fanned out effect.

Finally I came in with the stamped flowers and vines to add some extra touch of color around my photograph and page. Here is my final page, all finished…

You can find this stamp and die set on the Technique Tuesday stamps and dies in the Scrapbooking Collection.

Emma’s Paperie | May 2019 Project Share

Hi there! I took a break of sorts last week but I am excited to share some fun projects I made for the Emma’s Paperie shop for the month of May.

As always, we had four fun Inspiration points for each one.

We always have a Color Inspiration Project, a sketch, a company product spotlight, and then one random chosen challenge this month being Fussy Cutting (my fave!).

May Color Inspiration Layout

We had a fabulous image to inspire our creativity this month, here it is.

It. Is. Gorgeous!

I love all the soft neutral colors and all the natural elements you see everywhere, the black and white, the soft beige and blush….

All in all, I was obsessed and I made THIS:

“Hopes + Dreams” Layout by Neftali Zambrano for Emma’s Paperie

For this layout I used a mix of the Crate Paper Sunny Days and All Heart collections. I did tons of layering and paper tearing to add all that 3D chunky goodness to an already chunky mama in that photo 😂.

Okay, okay, I digress. BUT I was 37 weeks so you know, obviously… chunky.

To be honest, I don’t even remember if I’ve already scrapped this exact photo, but it’s another addition to my pregnancy album.

The soft color of the photograph also went really well with the color inspiration, which is the main reason why I chose it.

Here are some closeups:

May Sketch Layout

This month’s sketch was chosen by one of the lovely ladies from our design team and it was quite a fun one to work with:

To be honest, I was a little intimidated by it because of all the details on it. However, when it came to it I had a blast creating this layout:

“Summer Mode” Layout by Neftali Zambrano for Emma’s Paperie

I was feeling the blues found in the Crate Paper Sunny Days collection and I created a blue monochromatic page.

I added a beach photo to match my feels.

May Fussy Cutting Challenge

Like I mentioned earlier, there’s always one random scrappy challenge for the month and this month it was all about fussy cutting.

All that means is cutting the elements off a page and use them on your page. You can Fussy cut flowers, icons, words, etc.

For this particular layout I used, can you guess??

Yep! More Crate Paper Sunny Days!

I fussy cut the awesome paper that had all the circles on it and the one with all the fun beach icons to create this layout:

“Sun & Sand” Layout by Neftali Zambrano for Emma’s Paperie

This he was tons of fun to work on. It was super easy to cut the circles.

I loved incorporating tiny stickers all throughout and even more fussy cut beach balls.

I’ve got tons of closeups for this layout, hope you enjoy…

You guys have to get your hands on this collection. I’ve loved using it with all of my summer memories.

May Company SpotlightSimple Stories

This month we focused on playing with the amazing Simple Stories!

You NEED to check out this company if you haven’t done so yet. They have about a million (….maybe less) collections that you are sure to find one, or two, or ten (!), that will fancy your crafty!

So, I decided to use up what I already had in my stash. I did this on purpose because I have hoarded one of my favorite SS collections and I normally bring it out when there’s a spotlight.

Here is my layout:

“On A Journey” Layout by Neftali Zambrano for Emma’s Paperie

The collection I used was the I Am 2 Collection.

This collection is all for you and who you are. It is filled with quotes, adjectives that describe you and definitely empowering.

Which is why I brought it out to capture the first few moments captured of my second pregnancy at 8 weeks.

Here are some closeups:

Luckily, there’s still plenty of this collection in the shop for you to play with, too!

Well, friends that’s it for my May Emma’s Paperie projects!

I hope you are feeling inspired to go create something beautiful with your crafty supplies.

If you have any questions and comments, I’d love to hear them! Leave me a comment below.

Thanks for stopping by!

#myselfloveletters Challenge | An Introduction

I was scrolling along Instagram last week when I ran into a post by Serena Bee Creative, a crafty YouTuber and fellow Instagram Scrapbooker.

Her post was a challenge inviting other ladies to join in for the month of June on writing a love note to yourself EVERY DAY.

I was intrigued! You say “self love” and I’m there, people!

She thought of the amazing idea to write yourself a love letter each day.

She even created the list of topics to follow, hashtags, and a Facebook Group!

I was so delighted to have joined and I have been writing myself some pretty awesome love notes this whole week.

I am excited to be sharing some pretty awesome but personal letters this month following along with the creator of this amazing challenge.

Why?

I have previously and presently dealt with insecurities of my physical self, comparisons in life and on social media, and simply just dealing with trauma and depression.

I have been striving soooo hard this year to come out of my shell of depression and start living a more intentional and HAPPY life.

Let me tell you, it takes work!

But it is truly worth all the hard work.

Looking back at this year I have seen myself push through bouts of depression, my traumas, and have opened my heart to many new things like reading, therapy, THINKING positive, accepting, forgiving, and literally anything that makes me feel like myself.

My goal is to keep being a better and happier version of myself and I know that I have the power inside of me to do all of that.

That is why, wholeheartedly, I have taken on this challenge for myself and will be sharing each and every one of the 30 love letters I write to myself this month on my Instagram and blog on a daily basis.

I hope that in my sharing such personal notes, you can find something that will make you feel positive about yourself….

I hope that you know you are not alone in your struggles.

I also hope that you see the beauty in loving yourself and the amazing feeling you will feel when you write love notes to your whole being as it is RIGHT NOW.

I will be sharing all of the notes on a daily basis on my Instagram. Go check it out, I already 6 published letters!! I will be coming here daily to post the most recent ones, too.

My goal, as I have mentioned before, is to have this blog to share ALL the neffyness!

The scrappy life, mommy life, and even the personal more intimate life.

So hope you enjoy this series of #myselfloveletters and join the #selflove movement yourself!

Project Share | iNSD Mini Album Share

Welcome back scrappy friends!

It’s been a few weeks since all the scrappies of the world celebrated International Scrapbook Day with challenges and giveaways and lots of scrapbooking. I participated as much as I could, considering I had my baby girl all day.

Luckily my hubs took my 4 year old out on a daddy ‘n son date and I had some fun while they were gone.

Also, I didn’t end up doing a live broadcast because my baby girl was up most of the time we were alone. Bummer, I know!

However, I did scrap a layout AND a Mini Album that day! So, nevertheless, the goal for the day was accomplished.

Today I’m here to share the Mini Album I made using photos from my 28th birthday adventures back in March of this year.

I brought out more of my Paige Evans Horizon supplies and had a ball! It took me the be

To create the actual album I used two 12×12 white card stock pieces. I folded it a couple of times and stuck it so that it would fold and flip like a book.

PSA: I really didn’t pay attention how I folded the book. It took me a couple of minutes, some scissor cutting, and a number of folds to get it just right. If you you’ll like to know exactly how I made it, please leave me a comment and I promise to come back with the full instructions!

I then added some pretty patterned paper as my cover. The whole book was connected to the cover using some yarn string. Then I added two Amy Tangerine tassel and ribbon to finish it off.

As far as the embellishing, I went crazy happy using up all my supplies. No rhyme or reason, just plain scrappy fun.

Alright, I think I’ve shared all I need to share when it comes to details. Her come the closeups. I hope you enjoy!

Birthday Getaway Mini Album Share

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this mini album share and that you’re now feeling a little inspired to go get crafty. That’s always my goal. Thanks for visiting today!

Emma’s Paperie | April Project Share

Hello crafty friends. I’m back to share all the crafty goodness I worked up for the month of April for the Emma’s Paperie Blog.

As always, there are four projects with a different challenge for each and because it’s spring time there’s loads of fun colors, florals, and textures. I loooved every single one of the projects I made this month.

But who am I kidding? I love all of the projects I make! Bahaha. Talk about modest right?

Alright, here are the four projects I made for April and the specs. Hope you enjoy!

April Color Challenge

This month’s color challenge was one with some pastel-ish colors.

I didn’t quite get the colors correct, mainly because of that purple that was throwing me off (not my color).

But regardless, I tried my best and used up my oh so gorgeous Paige Evans Horizon supplies.

I documented our Easter from last year in the Mini Book I made here, but still had some photos left so I scrapped this one directly on a layout. It was our last Easter as a family of three!

Here are some closeups:

There are still plenty of Horizon supplies left in the shop, so if you wanted some then RUN, don’t walk! Ha.

April Sketch Layout

I had my turn to choose the sketch for April so I searched and found this fun grid layout sketch.

It’s fabulous!

I am a huge fan of grid style layouts because you can just keep coming back over and over again to them and there’s never one layout/grid alike. This one in particular has layering and so many fun details.

With this sketch in mind I made this lovely piece:

I used some more of the Crate Paper Sunny Days collection and a whole lot of different kinds of supplies. It was fun to use up pieces and ephemera in all sizes to create my grid.

I backed my layout with about an inch all around using a pretty seashell patterned paper, and added glitter texture paste for some texture. You really gotta look closely in these images, but it’s slightly visible.

Here are some fun closeups:

As you can see, I didn’t really keep to the sketch, but I followed the guidelines, ie. layers, large central grid, patterned paper frame etc. and it worked perfectly!

Try it out for yourself. Grid layouts are always fun!

April Stencils Challenge

So this month we pushed our creativity by challenging ourselves with a stencil challenge. If you’ve never used stencil I would highly recommend that you give them a try.

There are many ways to use them but one of my favorites is pairing the stencil with some modeling paste. You’ll also need a spatula to spread the paste!

Here’s a look at my SUPER minimal stencils layout:

I have quite a collection of stencils that I have ordered from the shop, so much that I didn’t even realize I had a beautiful floral cluster stencil. As soon as I saw it I plastered it straight on the middle of my page.

It looked so delicate and airy. So I decided to bring out a photo of the lace decal on my wedding dress and it fit with that airy theme I was going for. To embellish a bit I used the Crate Paper Sunny Days gold foil die cuts, good splatters, and a small title using wood grain alphas.

April Company Spotlight – American Crafts

This month’s company spotlight was focused on American Crafts. It took me a while to decide with supplies to use but I decided to use only my Amy Tangerine supplies and loads of textures to create a layout.

As you can see I’ve got all kings of textural pieces all around my page, and they are all Amy Tangerine.

I love my mix of supplies. I even took the time to stitch some of the florals!

Here are some closeups of all the details to this layout, (there’s tons!):

These inflated embellishments were so completely unique and I knew I just had to use them!

My son was an absolute fan of this layout, as you can see…

So, scrappy peeps, I hope you have enjoyed my April project share. These layouts were so fun to make and I have enjoyed using all of these lovely supplies.

I hope to have inspired you to go get scrappy! I’ll be back soon with more creative inspiration.
