In The Scrap | 4 Year Anniversary Blog Hop

Welcome crafty friends! I am here today celebrating with In The Scrap the 4 year anniversary of the Blog. What a happy, happy birthday!!

Four years of challenges, inspiration, and the most amazing talent from the scrapbooking community. I am so lucky to be a part of it all!

If you are here from the In The Scrap Blog, this is the first stop! So, who’s ready for some awesome inspiration?

The challenge today is to create a project with the theme of “Four”, just like our anniversary number.

I was so excited to incorporate this theme into a project because it actually is something very relevant to me at the moment… can you guess? Well, due to the fact that my family of three, is soon to be a family of four!

So, I decided to create a layout with a full page photo of our pregnancy announcement photo shoot. Here it is:

I printed the photograph on letter sized paper, and stuck that on an 8 1/2 x 11 sized white card stock. I used the Auburn Lane collection by Pink Paislee to add the perfect decor to the woodsy feel of the photo.

I started by adding a strip of pink paper to the left and right side of the photo to give me some space for decorating. I then went in and added many details to each of those strips.

Here are some closeups of the layout you might enjoy:

Of course, I made sure I added my title to go with the theme, “Soon To Be Four.”

I loved adding the paper flowers and 3D flowers next to each other. It gives so much awesome dimension and variety!

I added different textural details like puffy stickers, copper foiled stickers, and even a cute cutout house from one of the 12×12 sheets. All of these items are part of the Auburn Lane collection.

I just loved the overall texture that this layout has, and I was able to incorporate the theme of “Four” from my personal life into this fun celebration challenge!

Can you think of something specific in your life that includes the number four?

Why not make a layout about it, and join the fun at In The Scrap?! We would love to have you join us this fun weekend!

I’m Back!! A Quick Catch-Up with the Author

Well, hello there pretties!!

I have been quite silent for about a month and a half now and, to be honest, it was just a very much needed rest. I’ve also been pretty quiet on Instagram other than sharing a few Design Team projects here and there.

It’s not for any bad reasons, and I’m not done with scrapbooking whatsoever. It’s just that sometimes we all need a break sometimes, you know? I have been working fervently for the first half of the year and after that halfway mark of the year I not only felt like I needed a change, but there is quite a big change in my life that has forced me to slow down.

Yep! I’m having a baby! Number two, I should specify. My husband, 3 year-old son, and I are super excited to be growing our family of three into four! Our baby is due at the end of January 2019 and so as you can imagine, there is lots of work to be done including finding a bigger place to live, on top of the normal preparations that come with a new baby.

The first few months were pretty rough, and I was left with little to no energy. Which ultimately left with with no want for blogging, scrapping, and oversharing on social media. But I’m now just starting my second trimester and am feeling much more energetic enough to jump into my blog.

I even changed up the look of my blog, did you notice? It’s still a work in progress but I hope that by the end of the year I am able to publish my blog and start monetizing and also start sharing more about me, my personal life, and more tutorial-like posts!

So, I thank those readers that visit my little crafty corner here and on Instagram for your continuing support. I am excited for this personal journey of motherhood ahead of me to continue helping me grow with love, patience, and grace. I am also excited to continue making more and more scrapbooks for my family, and to share them all here in hopes of inspiring you to make precious memories and documenting them for your family. I’m here to stay, friends!

One Little Word 2017: FOCUS

Hi there scrappy friends, welcome back!

I am here today to take a moment to share my One Little Word for 2017.

Yes. FOCUS.

I have decided that this OLW is what I want to use to inspire me personally, my goals and help me grow this year. There are a few aspects of this word that come into play and I’m here to share with you what they are. But also, I want to put this down in writing as I want to be able to look back in a year and see how much this Word has made a positive change in my life.

There are four aspects of my life that I want to put this word into practice so here they are:

I feel like I have been struggling this past year to focus on all the good that is around me. The daily struggles of life have distracted me from appreciating what blessings I have and have led me to compare myself to things and people that do not help me live a happier life.

That is why this year I want to focus on the good. I want to focus on the blessings big or small that come my way. I want to focus on the happy moments with my family. I want to focus on what I have instead of what I don’t.

If I do this, I see myself being happier and feeling blessed with what I have.

I think that this past year, more than ever, I have over calculated how much I can do. I have left myself overwhelmed more that once by creating a bigger agenda than I can handle.

I want to change that this year. I want focus on one thing at a time so that I can do more! I will no longer push myself more than I know I can’t handle. I want to focus on one thing at a time so that I may savor it and enjoy the process.

As I step into a new stage of my scrapbooking career I really want to take this into account. I want to succeed in my efforts to keep growing so I think by taking it one step at a time I can get there. No more overloading projects, no more adding to the list. I simply want to focus on what is in front of me at the moment and ENJOY!

I think that including my family is always important for my OLW. This year I want to focus on quality time with my son, with my husband, and quality time together as a family.

As a stay-at-home mom I found how easy it can be to take the day to day life as granted. I don’t want to do this anymore. I want to give my son quality time every day. I want to spend quality time with my husband alone (just the two of us) because it will help strengthen our marriage and our friendship. But I also want to give all three of us quality time to spend together and bond as a family.

I hope to slow down a lot and give the boys in my life the quality time they deserve from their momma and wife.

Seriously, I don’t want to sound selfish. That’s not what this is about. This is about taking care of myself so that I can take care of the rest.

I think that I deserve to focus on myself. I want more naps, more pampering, more coffee in the mornings, more doing things that make me happy. I can totally continue with that list of “more’s” without a problem right? Haha. But that’s the point!

I feel that I have reached a point in my life where I just have to take it as it comes but I really want to ENJOY it as it comes, too! I want to be happy with myself by taking better care of myself. Because if momma is strong, she can keep her household strong too.

I am excited to have such a strong and powerful word guide my goals this year. After much growing last year, this year I want to slow things down a little and focus in on the people I love, the things I love to do and savor each big or little moment as it comes.

2017 is MY year! Let’s do this!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by. So, what is your One Little Word for 2017? I would love to know! Leave a comment below, let’s chat.

MOMMY LIFE|| Life With a 5 Month Old

I feel like the bigger the number of month the faster time flies. Baby M has developed so much in just a few weeks! It won’t be long before he starts crawling and before I know it, he’ll be off to college. Okay, maybe not that quick. But that day will come before I know it!

Here’s what my little five month old is doing:

  • He’s now sitting up almost without back support.
  • He can grab toys and put the in his mouth.
  • He’s painfully and slowly teething….
  • He can turn from back to tummy and tummy to back.
  • He loves playing peek-a-boo
  • He shouts!!! Yes, shouts! He loves playing a game we call “shout back and forth with mommy.” It’s more fun than it sounds. Hehe
  • He can sit up in the bath now and loves playing with his rubberducky.
  • He knows his favorite toys.
  • He’s eating solids now! His favorites are bananas, apples and carrots.

I think 5 months has been most fun of all. I can’t wait to keep watching him grow and become more mobile. I know he loves it too!

Enjoy my little cuties 4 month old photoshoot (mind you he was a grumpy guy, you can see by all the faces he’s making…)

How is your baby developing at 5 months? Do you like to keep track of their growing skills? How many of you take monthly growth photos? Join the convo and leave me a comment!

Until next time!

MOMMY LIFE || A Letter to my Four Month Old

My Dear Papa,

You’ve been in this world with us for just a short while. You’ll be 5 months in a few days, gosh time flies. You’re still a tiny little guy but you’re so full of personality! We love your smile and the squeal you make when you get excited. You love meeting new people and you make sure they know it when you flash your gummy smile to everyone you meet.

This past month, most of all, you have grown so much! You’re now rolling over and almost sitting up all by yourself. You’re just a little moving machine! Not every day is easy. Sometimes you have rough days like any one else. But no matter what fussy days may come by nothing breaks your spirit and you are just a happy go-lucky guy. I love you so much!

I’m am writing you this letter my sweet love, because on June 23rd, 2015 we lost your Grandma Debbie and I want to tell you all about her. She was a very wonderful woman. So strong willed and nothing ever broke her spirit. She loved you so much and your cousins Aubee and Bebe. You three were everything to her. Your Daddy and I wish she would’ve stayed on this earth much longer so that you would get to know her and grow up with her around. But sometimes that can’t happen and we lose the best people. You must grow up and be a good boy and a good man so that one day you may be able to meet her once again.

When we first found out I was expecting you everyone was so excited to find out if you would be the first grandson. And you were! Your Grandma Debbie was the happiest of all (…along with your Daddy!). You were her first grandson! She was there the day you were born. We waited a whole 29 hours for you to be born! It was a long wait but once she got to hold you her eyes filled with so much joy. Her “Little Bubba Dubba” was finally here!

On those first few weeks you were home she would just stare and look at you. She couldn’t believe her eyes: you looked just like your Daddy when he was born. She once told me that she felt like it was her David born again. Hehe. (You DO look just like Daddy).

She went out and bought you everything you needed. Without any hesitation! You see, that’s what was so amazing about your Grandma Debbie. She always put everybody else before herself. If you needed something, she went and got it. She was so selfless, baby boy. That’s something that we want to teach you. Every time we do something selfless we are reminded of your Grandma Debbie. That was her greatest joy. To see her loved ones happy. And we find joy in following her example of giving to others.

She was also a very strong woman. She raised both your Daddy and Uncle Momo all by herself. She raised two great men. I am so grateful for that because now you have them both as an example of what a great, hardworking, loving man is. I thank her for that every time I see your Daddy. I know you will grown up to be a great man, and it’s all thanks to the hard work your Grandma Debbie did in raising two great men.

We miss her so much my darling. You are so young and innocent to even start to understand what is going on. But we are blessed to have you and have that smile to bring us joy in this sad time. All we wish is that she were here for you to get to know her. But your Daddy and I promise that we will never forget her and we will always talk about the good times we had with her. You won’t remember her in person but she will always be your Grandmother and she will always be with you.

Always know that your Grandma Debbie loved you so much and even though she is not physically here with us all she is in our hearts and in your little heart too!

I love you so much baby love.
